How do I issue a credit note?

After a customer has made a purchase, an IWannaTicket user has the ability to either refund or issue a credit note in case a ticket buyer would like one. Refer to the instructions below to learn the best steps to issue a credit note for a customer.

The following article covers:

  • How to issue a Return (credit) and create a Credit Note
  • How to allow tickets to be returned.

1. Log in to your account and and go to the 'Events' tab at the top of your screen. Select the event you want to issue a credit note in. Click on 'Listing Details' on the side bar on the left.

2. Scroll down until you see 'Advanced Options' and tick the box 'Allow admissions to be returned'. Make sure that this box is ticked and then click save. If this is not applied, orders will not be able to be refunded or returned.

How to Issue a Return (Credit Note)

1. Select the relevant order in the Orders area.

2. Once you are within an order, you will see the 'Return (credit note)' button on the left hand side.

3. Click the 'Return (credit)' button and it will issue a credit note for the full ticket purchase amount. Ie - the cost of the whole order.

4. A 'Credit Note' code will then be generated that can be used to purchase a new ticket. You can see code and the history of the return this in the Transactions tab or the Booking Codes tab.

5. If necessary, copy and send the Credit Note to the customer. They can then use this code in a future purchase to the amount of the Return. Advise the attendee that they can use this code in the Discount Code box at the bottom of the page.

If you have a credit note of $100 and the ticket costs less than $100, the remaining balance may be used on another transaction. The credit note code will still be valid, until the balance has been used. The credit note can be used on multiple purchases, depending on the amount on the credit note.
