How do I customise tickets and emails sent to customers?

When someone purchases a ticket to your event, by default they are sent an email containing some information about the event, as well as their ticket. These emails, as well as the tickets themselves, have multiple ways to customize them and include more text, formatting or even images.

There are 5 main sections that can be customized when it comes to what gets sent out to customers who purchase a ticket, which consist of the following:

  1. Ticket Banner - This image is required to be 950px wide, and is displayed at the very top of the PDF that contains the e-ticket.
  2. Ticket Details - Appearing on the ticket itself, this often includes the ticket holders name and other information needed to redeem the ticket.
  3. Ticket Text - This area appears beneath the e-ticket and accepts basic text input. If large amounts of text are needed, we suggest including it in the Ticket Footer image.
  4. Ticket Footer - This image is required to by 950px wide and is displayed at the bottom of the PDF that contains the e-ticket. Generally this image contains a reminder of the event details, as well as any logos of brands or sponsorships. The example below incorporates the main text of the email into the footer image to allow for advanced text formatting.
  5. Email Text - Not included in the image below, this text will form the body of the email sent out to the customer to which the ticket PDF will be attached. If left empty, a default email will be used.

1. Ticket Banner

Ticket banners are images that must be 950 pixels wide and a variable height, traditionally wider than they are tall, displayed at the top of the PDF e-ticket. Generally this image contains the name of your event and some minor branding.

2. Ticket Details

The main section of the ticket, by default this area shows a number of details such as event name, location and date.

By utilizing the Additional Fields feature linked below, IWannaTicket can collect specific information from the ticket purchaser or ticket holder, which can then be added to the ticket details using the "Ticket Extra Information" field, as explained in the main article.

3. Ticket Text

Inserted between the main e-ticket and the footer image, this section can be used to provide some additional basic information or text, which cannot include HTML formatting.

The example provided in this article has an empty Ticket Text section, as the text has instead been integrated into a taller footer image.

4. Ticket Footer Image

Ticket Footer images must be 950 pixels wide and are inserted at the very bottom of the e-ticket PDF. A basic footer image often contains the name, location and dates of the event as well as the branding of the organiser and any other sponsors.

In the example above, the main body of the ticket text has been designed in image editing software, attached to the more traditional footer image and then uploaded as a single image.

In some use cases, the lack of text formatting in the Ticket Text section can be circumvented by including large amounts of text as part of the image.

5. Email Text

By default, IWannaTicket provides a basic email template that is sent to customers alongside their e-ticket, which can be found below.

This section utilises parameters to insert the customers specific information such as their name into the body of the email, as well as general HTML formatting for readability. This can be customised to include extra information from a wide variety of parameters, expanded upon in the main article.
